Travelogue No.37: Katara Village Cultural Center. Doha Qatar

Katara Village Cultural Centre has plenty to offer a tourist or a local. An amphitheatre, art galleries, food, beach, a mosque and most importantly a falcon hospital shaped like a falcon's hood. PIX

Travelogue No.36: Souk Waqif. Doha Qatar

Lions, tigers and bears. Oh my! Okay, well maybe there was every other type of animal in the Souq Waqif. This is the market that you can find anything from jewellery to kitchen pots and pans. Like the Walmart of the Middle East except mostly everything is locally sourced. Eat shawarma. Smoke some shisha. Good times. PIX

Travelogue No.35: Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum. Doha Qatar

When you're a sheik, you can buy what you want. This museum is a testament to that a well as a history lesson on many subjects. You would not believe how many cars and trucks there are in that place. So many are classics. There is also a wonderful collection of Islamic art as well as one of the largest Quran's ever made. PIX

Travelogue No.34: *Caution* City Under Construction! Doha, Qatar

There is an amazing array of architecture to be seen in this city. Growing as we speak, it seems like the city is mostly under construction. What is finished is pretty fantastic. With the World Cup of Soccer/Football coming in 2022, there is still plenty more to do including a subway. it should be spectacular when it is completed. PIX

Travelogue No.33: Food is the Same Yet Different. Doha, Qatar

There is pretty much every American fast food chain to found in Doha. KFC, Chili's, Appleby's, Dunkin' Donuts and of course the golden arches of McDonald's. Dairy Queen and Tim Horton's for the Canadians. Of course there are also many types of Middle Eastern restaurants including Turkish, Syrian and Iranian. Grocery stores, or Hypermarkets as they call them are a real trip. Similar in look and taste but still a bit strange. PIX

Travelogue No.32: Yo Ho Ho, It's a Desert Life For Me! Doha, Qatar

As you exit the highway into a pile of sand you should expect some interesting terrain ahead. Switch the tranny to 4wd and give'r! We drove maybe 5 minutes off the highway where there were massive dunes and sand stretching for miles in the almost every direction. Not everybody gets the opportunity to sandboard with lessons from my 11 year old nephew and 8 year old niece. PIX
